In the Mahabharata - The epic frequently characterizes Nagas as having a mixture of human and serpent-like traits. Sometimes it characterizes them as having human traits at one time, and as having serpent-like traits at another
Hinduism - Stories involving the Nāgas are still very much a part of contemporary cultural traditions in predominantly Hindu regions of Asia (India, Nepal, and the island of Bali). In India, nāgas are considered nature spirits and the protectors of springs, wells and rivers. They bring rain, and thus fertility, but are also thought to bring disasters such as floods and drought.

Nagas are snakes that may take human form. They tend to be very curious. According to traditions Nāgas are only malevolent to humans when they have been mistreated. They are susceptible to mankind's disrespectful actions in relation to the environment. They are also associated with waters—rivers, lakes, seas, and wells—and are generally regarded as guardians of treasure.

They are objects of great reverence in some parts of South India, where it is believed that they bring fertility and prosperity to their venerators. Expensive and grand rituals like the nagamandala and the Nāgārādhane are conducted in their honor.

Weaknesses:

 
Cold-Blooded 
Snakes belong to the animal class reptiles.  This group also includes crocodiles, lizards, and turtles.  Reptiles are cold-blooded animals that raise their body temperature by lying in the sun or lower it by crawling into the shade.  Their body temperature changes to the temperature of its surroundings.  Because of this, snakes that live in colder climates must hibernate through the winter. This directly corresponds with the amount of energy/power Styx has at any given moment, Cold will drain his magical abilities and it can actually put him into hibernation 


Women
He'll do anything that a pretty woman tells him to... vain and easily manipulated, he will immediately surrender himself to the whim of long legs, luscious lips, or a nice butt. He has been known to sign away his soul, on multiple occasions, only to have to figure out the difference when both parties come to collect. Hes even given away body parts, not a huge deal when he can regenerate but its still al*ARM*ing (hah) when he chops things off. He's..... just.... silly with women.


Susceptible to Tummy Aches 
Just because he CAN digest anything, doesnt mean he should. The venoms, acids, and poisons, that he uses to break things down cause serious heartburn and it often keeps him up at night. There's also the issue of PASSING said items.

Major Skills:

Sorcery and Enchanting
Styx may be a rather weak monster when it comes to physical attributes, but he makes up for it with some serious magical abilities. Tapping into deep wells of archaic power he is able to manipulate it to cast powerful spells, complete potent rituals, and affect his surroundings in mysterious ways. Outside of the bounds of specifically constructed spells he can make use of the raw energy to perform minor hexes or tasks, this functions much like elemental bending, (or minor telekinesis) only it utilizes and shapes pure magical energy as its focus. As his spells and enchantments focus mostly on enhancing pre-existing objects or powers, very little of what he does qualifies as offensive magic, and he tends to gravitate more towards anything defensive. (Examples: Enhancing a barrier to strengthen it, Imbuing a weapon with an elemental attribute, Granting an artifact the ability to float in midair)

Enhanced Senses
As a Naga, Styx has a couple very keen senses. His first and probably most powerful would have to be his sense of taste. Like all snakes he is able to 'taste' the air with his tongue, drawing odor particles into his mouth to process them with a special organ embedded in the roof. It is a manner for exploring his environment and searching for food. The second enhanced sense would be be 'sight' though in a little bit of a different way. Alongside his normal vision, he is able to see in the dark using infrared. Special pit organs detect infrared radiation emitted from heat sources up to 100 feet away, allowing him to stalk his prey no matter how sneaky they think they are.

Long Term Regeneration
Styx has a natural defense mechanism for major reconstruction of his body through a very slow version of regeneration. If he sustains a serious injury, like loss of a limb, he can then go into a state of hibernation, during which he can shift and shed the previous skin of his body as an old husk. Though he is helpless in this healing process it is nevertheless effective in restoring his body back to perfect physical condition. 

Venoms and Poisons
Though born with the normal venom sacks of his people, and being able to inject his prey through hollow fangs that extend when he needs them, Styx has since adapted and modified this weapon to suit his own purposes. Using his magic he is able to shape and change the chemical make up to fit several new uses. These uses include but are not limited too; Glue, Acid, Poison, Paralysis, Lethal Injection, and Aphrodisiac~ Aside from biting his victims he can also use these venoms and poisons remotely as a spitting weapon.

Minor Skills:

Snake Anatomy
As a minor skill, Styx is equipped with a very special jaw structure that allows him to consume meals much larger than what should normally be allowed. Like his slithery snake friends he too tends to leave behind only partially digested food... The other side of this rather unattractive skill is that he is able to digest just about anything he decides to gulp down into his stretchy tummy. The special acids in his stomach will break down inorganic objects and he mayyyy have been guilty of using this out of spite on his enemies as a kid to destroy their toys. also.... bonus fact.... doublebanana

Wall Climbing
This is a skill gained through many years of magical evolution for his particular species. His coiling body can slither and stick to any surface he feels like travelling upon, taking him up the straight side of a building or holding him on the ceiling in a natural cave. Almost spider-like in their predation, Nagas have perfected yet another way to sneak up and ambush their prey.

Extensive Magical Knowledge
With a longer than average life span, Styx has spent much of his early life sssssssifting (hah cause snakes) through books on magical theory and the practice of sorcery. His one real passion, he is always pushing the boundaries of known magic, and never passes up the opportunity to learn a new spell or two. 

Magical Crafting
Using his powers in manipulating the pure energies of magic, Styx has learned how to craft most of the items he is generally asked to enchant. Without the use of a full forge or any tools he can craft high quality armor, weapons, or jewelry in an arcane crucible. He substitutes raw power for the basic ingredients or materials required, and spells for the tools needed to keep the process going. Despite being crafted magically, all these items are completely mundane until he actually imbues or enchants them.

Monster Bio:

Personality:
Styx is a very happy go lucky, chill, laid back, lethargic as ____ kind of guy. Even as a teacher he tends to kind of lazily slither his way through the day, and not much can ruffle his scales. This is not to say that he doesnt do his job, he just does it in as efficient and capable a way as he possibly can. Its bad enough he has to do tasks the first time, there's just no way you're going to get him to repeat those efforts. He enjoys life for what it is and tends to see a lesson in every minute of every day, if you are sharp enough to catch it. He can be a little blunt, and doesnt often take the time to do normal social things like go out with friends or participate in small talk. He generally considers everyone to be a friend, and that they should stay that way (though he doesnt really put in the work to justify those friendships). He sees bullying and arrogance as senseless, and stupidity as a disease that needs to be scrubbed out of existence. The latter being the main reason he took up his teaching post at the Academy. 

Character's Background:
Grew up in a next with thousands of brothers and sisters. Esssssssssscaped to go out on his own, finding magic and all the ways it can help him lazily make his way through life. Time in solitude as he did some soul searching and self discovery, using magic to alter his true self into a form he was more comfortable with. Going on 'Walkabout' (hah what legs) once again, hitting all the juicy wizarding places he could find to snag more spells and rituals for his utility belt. Did a stint as a crafter for hire, learning how to really put his magical talents to good use and discovering he had a true talent for imbuing power for others. Finally moving on until he was scouted out by the Headmistress of Monster Academy, and offered a position to teach her students. Spends most of his days threatening to eat students, and trying to get them to finish their homework. Ungrateful little snots~<3

Roleplay example: Justin made his way through the dreary halls of his office, the sound of his footsteps muffled by the crusty carpet that had seen far too many Christmas parties to still be sanitary. Shouldering his sword and shield he peered out over the maze of cubicles on the floor, soul sucking boxes of doom pasted with sticky notes of desperate reminders of jokes as stale as the coffee. *Sigh* Mondays were always the worst...... He moved on. Passing the break room he checked to make sure the respawn point was active, not wanting to take any chances before hitting the bosses office. The motivational posters were shining, and a couple coworkers were huddled around a fresh box of donuts. Taking one himself he left them there, biting into his prize he felt the 'Sugar High' buff flash through him, raising his spirits ever so slightly. Then he saw it... the boss's door.... Old crumpled resumes and dirty ties littered the floor giving him pause. NO, today was the day.... It was time to fight for that promotion... HE WOULD HAVE THE CORNER OFFICE!
